Why the Stamps Lost?
A lot of the reason why the Stamps lost this game.
-- stop pressuring Darian Durant. Chris Jones keep sending the guys to go after Durant only to stop before the Riders' OLine starts blocking them. This happens in the 2nd half. That kind of puzzling because I see Tom Johnson is the only fighting the OLine and the other DLines are just watching. Are they anticipating a pass close by? Instead of going full out on Durant and punish the guy, they let him pick and choose his receivers.
-- penalties really killed their momentum. Some of the penalties are unwarranted and some are just plain stupid. I was surprised of the taunting penalty on Romby Bryant. If flexing his muscles is being called as a penalty then they should call the Riders' celebration 20 seconds left. That could have been a lost of down.
-- brutal refereeing. Overturning a fumble when Cates started losing control of the ball before he hit the ground. That penalty wouldn't even overturned because it is hard to tell when exactly he lost the ball. Isn't it if the review is inconclusive, the call should stay.
-- bad tackling. It ridiculous that they missed a lot of tackles. Instead of Riders going for 3rd down, they ended up getting a first down.
-- abandoned the run again. How many times did Reynolds and Cornish ran the ball? What about Burris? Why he isn't running for gains and tries to throw all the time. There are a lot of times he could have run for a lot of yardage in the game but didn't.
-- Offense stalled. Burris and company pretty much lost the momentum on the 2nd half. The INT before the end of the 1st half really bites.
-- not having to recover that Rider's fumble on the punt return. Wes Lysack keeps pushing the ball instead of falling down on it. Saskatchewan recovered and game is over. I think Lysack is hoping that when the ball goes to the end zone, they recover and get an easy TD. Bad mistakes.
Oh yeah RIDERS DEFINITELY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE 13th MAN TONIGHT..... 13th MAN as in REFEREEING!
