People get married about a decade later now than they did when these religions were establishing their set-in-stone rules.

Back in the day you got married at 14-15... not a lot of time for pre-marital shenanigans. Plus forcing post-marital sex on people (through religious dogma) was a great way of getting guys to stay with a woman after impregnating her... because if you get her pregnant and leave, you're going to hell. A convenient little tool for society to tie us roaming males down a bit (probably a good thing).

I think pre-marital sex is a fact of life when average marriage age is in the mid-20's, and average sexual peak (for a guy) is something like 17? Who are we kidding by even trying to impose rules against pre-marital sex?
