It was illegal before this law came into effect. If someone killed anyone while texting it would be a criminal offence not a provincial ticket, always has always will.
We don't have enough police NOW to deal with the idiot drivers on the road, you think they are going to be able to hand this additional law which is only a tax?
If they really wanted to make this work they would have included demerits but they didn't it is simply a tax.
The only way I see this as any benefit (if you want to call it that) is it will give the police ANY excuse to pull you over. Is that what you wanted? I mean as a law enforcement officer myself, if I had a mechanism to pull anyone for simply touching his Ipod as a gateway into my investigation, sure I will take it.
