In many cases, wouldn't providing your cell phone history get you out of a ticket? Officer says I was on the phone, the log says I wasn't, so eat it.
The flipside could also be true, but I'm not sure whether the police would/should/could be able to access your cell phone records to bolster their claim on a $170 ticket.
I have no problem with it though. I use my phone sparingly in the car, and always with a headset. Never text in the car.
