It's because they're lazy. Instead of starting in the middle of the driveway and pushing snow to each sides of the driveway and onto their lawns, they start from where their garage door is and push it all the way down to the street. It defeats the whole purpose of shoveling snow, since put the build up where your car needs to go. I really just don't see the logic in this.
