"God so loved the world, that he gave his His only begotten Son."
As an example to parents everywhere and to save the world (from himself), God had his own son tortured and killed.
You don't even understand what the scripture is saying. Read it again. God loved the world so much that he gave his Son as a perfect sacrifice, to save mankind by repaying the perpetual sin/imperfection that Adam has passed on to generation after generation.

It wasn't to save mankind from himself. Adam was the one who sinned and became imperfect and passed on death to his offspring, not God. Imagine how heart-wrenching it was for God to watch his Son die a criminal's death. But one death (Jesus) can turn into everlasting life for millions, by repaying the debt of sin that Adam owes.
