The thing about superhero movies that you don't find in comics or cartoons is that you really can only make a few before you'd need to reboot, unless it's animation or the main characters are animated.
It would take 20 years or so to get 10 Batman films out and in that time people are going to age to the point that they are unbelievable in the role or things are going to just skip ahead to fast and you'd start missing things or have huge exposition points.
After film 5, Nolan would likely have to restart or go a completely different direction. Chances are Bale wouldn't be interested in continuing on that far, Caine and Freeman are unlikely to act deep into their 80s and 90s so suddenly you have all new actors and what if they're not as good?
What villains can you use to keep things interesting for 10 movies? When do you recast the Joker, or justify bringing Harvey Dent back from the dead?
Super hero franchises just can't last long enough for that many films in one continuity.
