always do this, but here is a great philosophical perspective on what "manliness" is and why it is still important. Written by one of America's greatest, if not the greatest political thinkers, Harvey Mansfield, it's a pretty insightful and indeed, surprising look at this now rather unpopular or politically incorrect word.
I highly recommend it.
