The thing with the Cowboys is that it is an orginizational issue, and i look no further than Jerry Jones.
The guy lists himself as Owner, President and GM. He should only hold ONE of those titles and that is as the guy who owns the club. President implies that he makes decisions about who runs the actual football team, starting with a GM as that positions hire. Well, when you are the Prez and the guy you hire is yourself to run the football team...every single failure comes back to one desk and that is ol jerrah's.
I am in no way saying that Wade Phillips is a good head coach or doesnt shoulder some of the blame for the dallas debacle, because a bit of it is on him. However, when you are an owner of a business, you hire a guy who hires guys to get the job done. When you are the guy who hires yourself to hire the guy to get things done and it fails.....sorry but thats on YOU.
I have no problem with the Cowboys sucking hugely for the next 4 decades...i dislike them that much, but when i am exposed to media absolutely slobbering over how this was Philips fault when no one questions the oilman running the important stuff, I find it absurd.
Jones is a joke and (much like Al Davis) needs to allow guys who know the game/personell/scouting....to do the very damn job they were hired to do. Jones is THE single biggest problem with the Cowboys...because he will write a check. He doesnt understand that money=talent=bestteam, simply wont work. He needs to hire someone to run the whole deal, let them do their job and sit back and watch how much he didnt know.
