All your looking at is the very, very small top percentage who make millions and are famous. The majority of athletes and musicians don't even make enough to make a living, and work full time jobs to support their lifestyle.
Also, most of those proffessions you mentioned aren't full of people "scraping by on meager wages". I don't know who you've met, but anyone I know in the services you've listed do okay, and definitly aren't "scraping by".

You totally missed the point, which is that the people who actually make a difference in our lives are not compensated anywhere near enough in comparison to someone who is an entertainer. Why does someone who pretends to be a cop (the people playing dress up) make hundreds of thousands (or millions in some cases) of dollars whereas someone who actually may have to risk their lives to save ours only make a little bit, and they are begrudged even that? There is something seriously flawed with that in my opinion.
