I have some good Muslim friends and sometimes we talk about these issues over lunch or dinner. They sometimes feel like they're being targeted and profiled, when looking for jobs, or getting on the C-Train or of course at the airport and boarding flights. They argue that the Muslims worldwide are a peace loving people but their whole reputation and world standing is so bad
over a small fanatical group.

While I agree with them somewhat, I told them that if there are a billion Muslims in the world, they wouldn't let a small group of fanatics do what they do if they were outraged. So it must be that they generally agree with some parts of what the fanatics are doing.

If 'you' as a group hate something, you have to protest. Even in a place like Calgary, there are protests going on all the time. Protests against China, Sri Lanka and other countries. Why aren't Muslims in Ottawa protesting in front of the Iranian embassy for example? Put pressure on the Canadian government to act. Hey it may not do much but you're out there right? I've gone to demonstrations and held signs for the smallest little things, but they're important to me.

I told them to be more active. If you're silent, then you agree with what's going on.

Read: People must not be doing anything because they're not doing the type of activity that *I* expect to see them do.
