Hey CP, Happy CS day! I'm sure everyone here knows who Carl Sagan was, if not, he was a wonderful author and astronomer, teacher, and I think philoposher.
Some of my favourite quotes from Carl:
- For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.
- If we long to believe that the stars rise and set for us, that we are the reason there is a Universe, does science do us a disservice in deflating our conceits?
- Our species needs, and deserves, a citizenry with minds wide awake and a basic understanding of how the world works
Carl was an amazing author and wrote in such a way that a layperson could enjoy and comprehend his work; all the while gaining important knowledge about our amazing universe. The world was truly better off for having him!
