Help: Windows 7 and stuff going on in the background
Long story short: Can anyone tell me how I can find out what Windows 7 is doing in the background when it starts up or shuts down?
My computer at work makes me go through this ######ed dance twice a day. Around noon, without fail and regardless of whether I've loaded CP or not, I get a message about my computer being out of memory and that I have to restart all programs. Sometimes it singles out Outlook and/or Shoretell Call Manager but not always. I have 2GB of memory so Outlook, Word, Firefox and Shoretell *should* be able to co-exist.
I close everything, click restart and then... wait. Windows says it's logging off but sits there for sometimes 5-10 minutes. There's no evidence of what exactly needs to be logged off or why it's taking so longer.
There are also some obvious driver problems that I won't get in to (older Dell laptop that has Vista drivers instead of brand new W7 drivers for some items) causing problems with the docking station.
I'd like to know what's happening in the background so I might be able to troubleshoot the problem. I've tried virus scans and Malware but nothing obvious is found. I've uninstalled unneeded programs and defragged but to no avail.
Any ideas?
