This is what Nenshi said about Park-and-Ride in his platform:

Removing the $3 Park-and-Ride fee. Naheed has called the imposition of this fee the single worst decision this Council has made – and that’s saying something! It makes using the LRT more costly and inconvenient for people who may not be able to easily get to the train by bus or walking. In a city that's not designed for convenient access to transit, we should make it easier, not more difficult. We should get rid of the parking fee.

I agree with Nenshi's rationale despite my general dislike of the notion of 'free' parking. I think the free park and ride is throwing Calgarians a bit of a bone - for many people getting to C-train stations isn't exactly a convenient given how the city is designed.

Nenshi did state that it may be very difficult to implement the change right away given the imminent budget shortfall that requires being addressed within a matter of a few weeks. I recall him saying the change may have to wait until next year, despite I'm sure him really not wanting to.
