"You can't throw it to them, you've got to play within the confines of our system," Vikings coach Brad Childress said. "Sometimes it's OK to punt the football. You can't give seven points going the other way, not in a game like this."

That may not seem to harsh on the surface to many, but here is the undisputed truth in the NFL...the coaches HAVE to have their players back and especially the QB. Nevermind a guy like favre who garners more respect than any other player in the game.
No doubt in my mind this will become yet another "thing" for that team to deal with through this week. The media will not allow it to be anything but.
Trent Dilfer ( who has quickly become my personal favorite NFL analyst by a mile) was just talking about this and he made it really clear that he was completely dumb-founded by the comments even though he agreed they were true. He also was pretty adamant that those who know the Favre/Childress relationship have told him that favre has been biting his tongue since last year when it came to game planning/knowledge and that Favre has done this on order to keep cohesion in the locker room. He suspects that Favre will not take kindly to this for those reasons.
Could be a really fascinating thing to watch it all unfold.
