No, Benitez spent far less than Ferguson(and consider that a new manager will naturally spend more than a longer tenured one to get his players) and one transfer skews the facts).
Rick Parry wouldn't give him money for Barry. Parry said I'll buy you Keane, or nobody. Who would say nobody in that case, especially considering he probably won't pay that. Then you can see 6 months later, when Rafa starts calling the shots he sells Keane to minimize the loss.
He was 6 weeks away when we bought him. That's what our doctors told Rafa. Guess what, they were wrong. You can't fault Rafa if the doctors Liverpool have are wrong. Not suprisingly he changed the doctors shortly after.
And look at Nani, Berbatov, Essien, and the likes and you'll see there is an adjustment period. So it's not fair to say Aquilani sucks, when another managers decision has forced that without taking a 2nd look.
