I have no idea, honestly, I dont follow Pompey or Harry that closely, but from what I understand, regardless of the fact that they were sold for more than they were bought, while there the wage structure was outrageous. Further, the timing of holding those players, paying them and then being relegated screwed the finances.
As for the chairman, I have no idea what influence Harry had, but I'd say there was definitely some, as he brought some of thos ex-Pompey players with him to Spurs.
