Huh? Socialism is when you have a draft and force a player to sign with a certain team. We don't have that in soccer. All players are free agents and are free to go wherever they want.
The rules are in place to prevent African players from being exploited into signing twenty year contracts at age twelve. Good on Rooney, I totally agree with his position. He's entitled to buy out his contract and I hope he does. I wish we had this option in hockey, you wouldn't end up with wasters like Wade Redden in the league. Every player should be a free agent at the end of every season.
