Even if all of Barb's voters went elsewhere, the gap between Nenshi and McIver was too large, wouldn't have made a difference.
Although, if she hadn't joined the race, there would have been more media attention for others involved, allowing maybe the Hehr's and Stewart's of the race to build momentum.
I really think we should do preferential voting like in Australia, where they rank your votes and keep eliminating the bottom choice until someone has a 50%+1 majority. That would eliminate strategic voting, and would probably give lesser known candidates (ideas>name recognition) a better chance.
