Then what do you want? Episode after episode of Dexter finding and killing bad people while the supporting cast are just elaborate props. You want to talk about "dipping to CSI levels of stupidity" that's what you'll get. Dexter's entire existence is to mask who he is. The show would be absolutely no fun if that was taken out of the equation.

I suppose the other option is that the writers are out of ideas for Dexter as the audience knew him through the first season and are left either expanding the show, or calling it a series. While I don't want subsequent seasons to be unrecognizable or unenjoyable, I still think there's another season left after this one when Dexter is finally caught or killed.

I'm still enjoying the show. After last season's incredible highs, I'm not surprised there are some fans who don't like this season... and obviously there's a group (not necessarily including you) who would want to see season 1 repeated over and over.
