Bad news = The bank wouldnt approve me for the Scion as it is a USA import, and the bank wont finance me because of that.

Good news = They could approve me for a 2008 Nissan Versa - for the EXACT same money/payments/everything.

Sounds like a load of hooey. I think the Nissan Versa is made in the USA wouldnt that make it also a USA import? They probably had the car sold without informing the other sales monkey and the guy tried to save his a$$.
