Yeah each man lived for 17 days on 4 cans of tuna.

They estimated where the collapse was and just began drilling holes, there was even another collapse and they had to stop.

Then the trapped miners finally heard some drilling and start to tap back with the tools they had. Finally a bit broke through and the miner stuck a note on the drill bit that all 33 of them were alive. That's when they were able to start transferring food and supplies down there and the miners really had a sense that they could be save, even if at the time, people were saying by Christmas.

It wasn't just an event yesterday, alot of people had been following the story for 2 months.
