Here is a question Mr. Car SalesMan.
A few months back I tried to purchase a 2008 Scion xB. It was from a used car dealership here in Victoria (Cars Unlimited - Owned by Jim Pattison). This was a 2 day process - Day 1 we took it out for a spin, liked it - made them a deal and they accepted my old car in as a trade in. They said there bank was closed, and it would be processed tomorrow. They went over my credit and said everything should be a go.
I call the next day - the salesman says everything is good to go, come pick up your car after work. I swing by and the Sales Manager wants to talk to us (a different dude from the previous night) and he says I got good news and bad news.
Bad news = The bank wouldnt approve me for the Scion as it is a USA import, and the bank wont finance me because of that.
Good news = They could approve me for a 2008 Nissan Versa - for the EXACT same money/payments/everything.
Why would there bank care what car I get if the payments and everything is the same. The sales manager was a complete d-bag about everything, and I told him the Versa is no bigger then the car I have now so I'm not interested.
The Scions just released in Canada this month anyways, so I can probably get a new one now - but it always bugged me that this never got approved.
