I dont have a dog in the fight so this is coming from a very neutral place.
Anyone who truly believes that^^^ statement needs to get informed.
Those who get to an anchor position as she did, has years of really hard work and long hours behind them and it usually starts at the grass roots level of civic events/politics. She has done so much more than just "sit and read off a teleprompter"....that is a really unfair statement.
Even when she was anchoring the news its not like her and Janz just walk in at 5:55 and sit down and start reading what is put in front of them. They are involved at all levels of all stories long before they reach the air. She has a pulse on the city because of what she has done in her profession. Doesnt mean she is the best candidate in any way, shape or form, but she also shouldn't be disqualified because of her past profession either. Everyone starts somewhere. and if experience is a necessity, then Nenshi should be DQ'd under the same guideline.
This coming from a guy who if he still llived in Calgary and was to vote next week would be voting for someone other than Higgins. But not because she was a news anchor for 20 years, that would be a ridiculous reason.
