Well a single would have tied it then.
I think it was the right call.
Pitch to the guy and if he hits a single you've still got the lead. Of course worse case scenario is what actually happened.
Walk him and the game is tied and now you are just trying to get an out to force extra innings. Worse case scenario here you lose 6-4 instead of 5-4, eitehr way you're screwed.
I don't know who was hitting behind him, but it looks to me as though pitching to him was the better option.
