I think the Pats traded Moss because they have done a large youth movement this year and they didn't want Moss to be a year long distraction. It was fine when there were plenty of respected vets - Vrabel, Bruschi, et al - but with most of the old guard gone Moss was supposed to be a mentor for the young guys. Instead he started grousing right from training camp about not feeling wanted since he wasn't offered an extension.
I think the Pats wanted to get rid of the distraction and if they could get a pick for him, so much the better.
Now they can play the, "No one thinks we can do it" card again. They have a better run game with Benjarvis Green-Ellis than they have had in years. They will miss Faulk but seem to like Woodhead in that role. They will probably miss Moss stretching the field, but will try Brandon Tate or perhaps bring in someone else to fill that role.
