Rocket Runners still had to be sharpened like regular blades. T-blades could not be sharpened and were never designed to be. Rocket Runners were just like regular runners except the upper 1/3 was made of an acrylic composite to save weight. The problem was that sharpeners who weren't any good at sharpening would frequently overheat the blade and melt the acrylic composite. Nothing wrong with Rocket Runners. The problem was with the crappy sharpeners.

But also the life of the steel on the rocket runners less than regular runners. Supposedly they only get a X amount of sharpenings before you have to replace the disposable rocket runner. 8-12 sharpenings is what my pro shop said although my buddy is on his 7th sharpening and said they still feel great.
