Most bone marrow donation is done by a procedure called Apheresis, whereby peripheral (circulating) blood cells are harvested through a procedure very much like blood donation. I have a good friend who is a hematologist and a big proponent of marrow donation-- in the worst case, a very small amount of discomfort can literally save a life. Go donate.
