Congrats on the new addition.
A DSLR is too bulky and long use video can burn out your sensor.
The new HD video cameras are light and have amazing clarity.
I have a DSLR that takes HD video and will be buying an actual HD video camera in the near future. There is no comparison for zooming, focus, sound and one handed operation.
I'd stick with a high end camera like the newer sony.
