Star Wars was one of the last movie series where you had clearly deliniated good versus evil, and good had to be good because it made the Empire far darker.

I don't know if todays special effects would really outdo the original special effects. First and foremost the stuff that Lucas did in 77 and in 80 were incredibly special and drove the effects business forward by multiple generations. Second of all, because of the use of models and stop action animation, Star Wars effects shots felt like they had depth. When I watched Avatar, I thought that they were CGI'd to the point of looking phoney. Even up to Revenge of the Sith, I thought that the effects lacked depth.

Mark Hamill was perfect for Luke Skywalker, he played the bright eyed optimistic kid to a high level, I don't know who else would make a good Luke. You can't argue with Ford as Solo, and he was plenty flawed and fairly gritty. The freezing in carbonite scene was one of the best character moment scenes in any movie that I've seen. Carrie Fisher was also great in her role except in Jedi where she was high the whole time, but she wasn't suppossed to be dark, or conflicted or flawed. She was suppossed to be a beacon representing all that was good and decent with a streak of bravery and rebellion.

The original trilogy is the one series that should never ever be rebooted or recast.
Or retouched or re anything.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
