Standard speed is nearly like the longest setting in Civ 4. My next game will be at a faster setting for sure.

Aside from that, I'm finding it's really hard to play as a peaceful civilization, even at lower difficulties. The AI is completely bi-polar and goes from liking you to wanting to murder your children in less then a turn. This might have something to do with odd relations with city states though. I think Hanoi declared war on Seoul, and both me and the Iroquois got dragged into it automatically.

I'm really loving the gameplay changes though. Just need to figure out how to use my workers better. Leaving them on automatic seems to mess up a lot of my cities.

Oh, one tip I've discovered. Don't leave your troops on your border next to a civilization you don't want to go to war with. You see those troops as defensive, the other civ sees them as an invading force. Just keep them out of sight.
