Default Huge damage in Newfoundland

One unconfirmed death reported so far, homes, roads and half a town have been reportedly washed away, and a key bridge (the only bridge) into the Burin Peninsula has been washed away - this peninsula is home to 20,000 people. Some area's are reporting over 200 mm of rain as of sunset. The Mayor of St.Johns said his car was being pelted with "projectiles" of house siding and tree limbs on his way to the ATV studios.

Because of lack of communications daybreak could be interesting in the bad way.

Igor was a weird storm as it didn't weaken as forecast since it hit Bermuda and still packed sustained hurricane force winds when it nailed eastern Newfoundland.

Question: has a storm like this ever taken this path and still had anything left?

Here's a vid of one of the roads being washed away (among other things)
