I know you say that half in jest, but I've been thinking somewhat along the same lines.

I've spent the last year improving my diet and exercise regiment. Replaced the french fries with broccoli. Replaced the Doritos with unsalted popcorn. Replaced ice cream with yogurt. And my thoughts? My doctor has given me a clean bill of health, says if I keep it up I should live a good long life.

But I'm thinking I was happier when I was a fat, lazy slob. Now if I ever splurge and have pizza or cheesecake, every bite I take makes me feel guilty and I don't enjoy it.

I have found it amazing how much diet does play a role in our happiness. "Comfort Food" does really affect mental state.
