I didn't want to contaminate the first post so that there could be discussion on either side, so here are my thoughts:
Seems like an extension of US partisanship. Tobacco, Politics, Abortion, Drugs...and now fast food. If you're not with us, you're against us. I don't mind the idea of a public interest group buying an ad so we can have a real conversation - but this isn't going to lead to that. All you get is the extremes on the right and the extremes on the left shouting over each other.
In terms of whether it's a good ad or not...I don't think so. It's only attracting attention because it's loud and obnoxious. Believe it or not, being subtle often works better than loudness in marketing. I would have preferred if there was no burger in hand and they had waited until the end to do the reveal. Furthermore, I don't see the a very strong connection between feet and the McDonald's arch...maybe they could have had the doctor saying something?
