What do you propose? High School textbooks showing what war injuries look like? Regular shock ad campaigns showing heads exploding? Constant news stories going into great detail about a soldier's injury?

Is desensitizing people to the violence of war really going to make it any easier for the people who go out there and fight? Will it stop people from doing despicable acts and stop people from starting wars in the first place? I don't believe it would.

On top of that, does the idea of exposing people to these images regularly "so they can see the truth" potentially make it easier for people to be okay with killing other people?

By no means do I feel particularly informed on the subject, but this is my point of view on it.
The problem is that we are continuously exposed to violence.... at a distance... ie the movies. If anyone has seen the latest movie "The Expendables" you know what I mean. The whole movie is about violence... but violence and blood at a distance... which makes it seem perfectly acceptable and fun. .... and in truth its all a lie. Blood and guts are dirty, smelly, and very unpleasant... just like war is.

People need to be exposed to the truth.. not some hollywood hype/make-believe.
