It is, that's why I haven't bought the WDTV Live. You can actually try out the interface here by downloading the software and just trying it on your computer:

I like the interface, and I really like that you can mark something as "watched" if you're in the middle of watching a TV series.

I'm impressed that the WD player plays anything you can throw at it, but at the same time so will boxee and you can search and sort based on categories too.

I think the interface for Boxee is just a lot more refined as well as functional and I think I'll pick one up the day it's released.

Edit: I'm curious, why are you a little worried about it being from D-link?
