What do you feel these things are?
jobo, i feel the big hits happen with both real people and cpu's in any combination. there is no way in the game to be physical aside from completely knocking someone over. perhaps its just because its a game and people can go 100% all the time, but to me it just sucks that every time down the ice there are multiple people getting crushed.

that transitions into my first thing. they need to create new ways to play defense. the reason diving became such a strategy is because it worked. they need a tie up button; they need a way as a defender to just stay with the forward. the ai defense needs to smarten up around their own net. and i don't mean in terms of cross creases. whenever the goalie has the puck, they all abandon the net. its nowhere realistic and its nowhere near good hockey. forwards can have their way around the net. this year especially they can poke till the cows come home as there seems to rarely be a penalty.

another issue is gliding. you can take a stride or two and get all the way down the ice. its unrealistic and can be difficult as it makes you have to be hyper sensitive if wanting to move small distances. when diving you can go most of the way down the rink. this was not a problem i notices in past games. seems to be a step backwards for me.

auto back skate. this is apparently just a glitch but they have had problems with it before. as i recall it used to get turned on based off of what the host of the game had set. this year you cant turn it off. nothing is more frustating than getting blown by because my guy wont turn around. nothing is worse than to be skating back and having your guy switch back and forth over and over getting you out of position.

pucks in the air are batted with a success rate better than joe dimaggio and tony gwynn combined. aside from being unrealistic, it actually sucks sometimes as i will be in the offensive zone in single player hoping to get a rebound but instead of letting it land and playing it then, the cpu automatically hits it the wrong direction. not to mention most pucks played in hockey like that are whistled dead of high sticks.

goalie passing has gotten very bad in single player. i have been having all kinds of trouble getting the goalie to pass to a defender when then goalie is behind the net playing the puck. at this point i would just prefer a way to make the goalie always stay in his net. when he goes back to play the puck, its always an adventure.

dropping sticks. it happens way too much IMO. and in real hockey if you stick lift someone and they drop their stick you are taking a penalty. i am happy with how much sticks break. i think thats working. however every time i see someone drop their stick i giggle inside a little.

those are some gameplay specific things i noticed. i also just saw that a tuner update was released. maybe that will help things. i am always open to patches and tuners fixing things. but for me as it stands now it is pretty unplayable.

edit: something else i just remembered after reading nickers post. the puck logic after it hits the goalie is awful. several times a game the puck will go straight up over the goalie. several times a game the puck will just sit and spin on him. none of this i find realistic.
