Really surprising that only one senate member voted against this.
To tell you the truth this really is overbreadth. I agree that there has to be limits on when face coverings can be worn, but a total ban was not necessary. Also, not entirely comfortable with this:
"The law imposes a fine of 150 euros ($190) and/or a
citizenship course as punishment for wearing a face-covering veil"
Combined with the recent mass expulsion of Romas, I'm not entirely sure I like where France is headed:
