The Chiefs don't try to pretend that they're a mano a mano group of stud athletes who will beat you one on one. They know damn well that they need to put in a group effort, and that they need to win the return yardage battle in every game. Paying attention to details like this will make the difference between a talent lacking squad scratching out an 8-8 record while the super athlete team who doesnt' watch details continues to put up 5-11 records in spite of all their talent.
McCluster and Arenas deserved praise last night because when you factor in the 160 punt return yards, the 40 yards on the fumble return and kick return yardage, suddenly that 400 to 197 total offence imbalance evens out.

You sound like an overly defensive Chiefs fan.

I didn't mean my comment as an attack on the Chiefs... I was simply responding to the
non-stop love for those two on yesterday's broadcast and the comment that they "look to be the real deal" after
only contributing to special teams and after only one game. I think the commentary was unwarranted (along with the absolute love affair for Rivers) and the "real deal" comment was woefully premature. Even if they both turn out to be incredible return men, where is Dante Hall and Devin Hester? That's right, neutralized by special teams coaches and above average special teams schemes.
But hey, if two
yet to be proven returners get you Chief's fans high, more power to you. I'm still searching for a Raiders high...
