Quite obvious you don't have a kid. Twelve is THAT young guys.

My daughter will be 12 next summer. Her friends are all around her age, give or take 6-12 months.
They like to watch Camp Rock, iCarly, Suite Life.....stupid KIDS shows that KIDS like to watch. They have sleepovers, eat popcorn, drink root beer...and watch stupid KIDS shows. They like to do dumb finger painting pictures for Mom and Dad....because they're KIDS. They'll even play with playdough still when they're really bored! Last weekend one of her friends was over. She had brought her barbies. They had a barbie sleepover....because they're still KIDS.

Now I know these days of innocence are winding down for me. We're lucky we have a respectful daughter with relatively good friends. But my point is that girl was just that...a young girl. She's not far removed from the things my girl and her friends do now. Fact is if she had parents and friends/family who were a little more interested in her well being, that's more likely where she might be.

Twelve is far to young to be meeting up with horny 16 yr olds on Facebook. Obviously it's too young to be getting drunk and screwing as well.

It really all gets back to parenting. If your kid is busy with interests, activities, etc., I doubt this happens, let alone at 4:30 on a Monday afternoon.

"Stuff not far from this" has always happened and always will I suppose. It doesn't make it right, and I can assure you that the huge majority of those involved have parents or guardians with more important things on their agenda, rather than the well being of their tweener.
