All I will say is this: the power board inside a Macbook Pro (current and current-1 generations) is not a separate piece from the motherboard. If a third party adapter damages the power board, you are looking at a minimum $700 repair via Apple to replace the board (that was for a 13" Macbook Pro, a 17" will be more expensive)

Maybe it works, probably (almost definitely) it works. But personally, I'm not interested in taking a chance on clean, reliable power to a $1500+ laptop just to save $30
