So far NHL 11 > NHL 10, theres not one big change that smacks you in the face that people expect but the improvements are in the details. I am really enjoying the new physics engine and the hits are great, hip checks rule and I love that there are not just all canned animations. Another area in which I see some great improvments is in the 1 timers, 1 timers from the half board actually work this year and you can get a nice shot off, great for an option on the PP. The game looks similar but I notice a definate change in the load times which seem to be much faster than NHL 10.
HUT is great, reminds me of when I was a kid and I would collect cards and put together lines and teams with the cards, however, in NHL 11 I can actually play a game with the cards. The points system is something I like for buying packs. It works for both casual and core players as it gives core players a reason to play games to get points and makes HUT not get old fast, and for casual gamers they can buy packs without spending hours playing to have a good team.
I haven't had time to go into any online modes or be a pro but be a GM this year seems nicely improved as far as draft picks and prospects go. It's nice to be able to trade a couple years picks or get a teams future picks in a trade.
So far I am really enjoying NHL 11 and dont really have any complaints about it. In my opinion EA has tried to give the core fans what they have been asking for (realistic hockey simulation) while still having a game in which casual fans can pick up and enjoy.
