Obviously the age gap isn't as bad in this case. I would think the gap was less than 10 years, and she was definitely of age to consent. However it still seems a bit of an abuse of teacher/student trust.

It's criminal due to the position of authority with respect to the student. Let me tell you kids a story about a teacher... this is true, as it was related to me by the teacher's friend/criminal lawyer. This did not happen here, but in .... a neighbouring province.
Grade 12 camping trip. Overnight. The teacher wakes up at 6 am to one of his (female) students swallowing his pole. He is half-asleep, and blows his load. He was convicted of sexual assault and lost his career because he "did not immediately stop her"... I ask you, fellow males, how many of you would be able to "immediately stop her" in that situation?
