In that instance, the post I replied to was twisting itself in knots to validate a stance that was based on an initial false accusation/proposition.
Hence my rhetorical use of the old "when did you stop beating your wife" (probably more appropriately phrased "Do you still beat your wife?") to highlight the logical fallacy exemplified by the post.
I'm sorry that you've not come across this little phrase before. But you've clearly misunderstood the whole thing.
