I'm going to Barbados in a couple of weeks and had the option of doing All-Inclusive or not, and I chose to not do it because the extra cost was quite a bit more, and obviously, is only good when you're eating and drinking solely at the resort. I don't plan on sitting inside that little compound the whole time, so it seems like I'll be spending out of pocket for a lot of meals anyway.

Barbados is one o the most expensive holiday destinations regardless of how you do it.
Depending how you plan on spending your vacation. Usually an all inclusive is worth it, but it depends where you are going, and what you plan on doing. Places in the Caribbean, or Mexico you will be able to barter prices on anything. So all those "hotel discounts" on activity's and touristy stuff you can get the same. just got to be weary of getting ripped off from non legit places.
