So what other products do I have to know about specs, bands, unlocking and other such esoterica about? Do you know how your cable or DSL modem operates, at a signal level? Do you fully understand the inner workings of TCP/IP and the HTTP protocol? How about C++, did you learn that to understand how your browser was written?

Calling people uneducated about technical stuff is unfair - they likely know things about things that you don’t, just as you know things that they don’t about things. It’s all relative, and as a technology like mobile phones mature, they become more accessible to the masses simply because everyone doesn’t need to be an expert on the esoterica.
