Have to agree with Incinerator on this one. The clublife in Calgary is rather boring when compared to other cities. If you are looking for more of a lounge/pub style atmosphere then there are several places that you may like. Such as Bungalow, Melrose, Yardhouse, Classic Jacks, Plush, etc.
It all depends on what kind of music that you like, when it comes to the clubscene. Though as I said before, its really nothing to get excited about. There are is nothing or no strips in Calgary like that in Van(Granville Strip), Toronto(Richmond club district), or Montreal. The Downtown scene really shuts down or is limited with people in the later hours of the day. Although its merely due to the fact Calgary has the lowest percentage of people that live in the core. You wont see many people in the core let alone walking around like you do on say Robson, Granville, etc. Hopefully it changes soon with the condos all being built.
17th Avenue(or the Red Mile) is filled with mostly restaurants, pubs, lounges, etc...not really any clubs. The 1st Street district is just over a block, on one side only, so you could try that. Then there are a few clubs in the downtown district that you could check out. But, in reality the club scene in Calgary is surely lacking compared to other major cities. Enjoy the lounges, pubs, etc because that is what this city has turned into the last number of years.
What kind of music or atmosphere do you like?
