But the expenditure of public funds (at a significantly higher than normal cost) on something that (arguably) unnecessary IS an election issue.
I could care less that the bridge design is (imo) ugly as hell, but I have huge problems with zero public consultation (until poop hit the fan), paying twice as much as necessary, and being told that property taxes are being increased.
