My two nerdy claims to fame was getting a highscore of 767,000 and achieving 228 lines in the same day (different sessions). I swear this game was my crack back in the classic NES era.
I'd play to the point of getting totally zoned out (I called it, the Tetris zone). Breathing slows, blinking is minimal and nothing else exists in the room. This was back in late 88 and 89. I even submitted the highscore photo to Nintendo Power Magazine which at that time crushed the North American highscores by quite a margin.
Once every couple years, I'll dust off the old NES and see if the old man still has it. Needless to say I have only reached above 500,000 once.
