Just read this about 5 minutes ago:

And yet, if they build it, the same extremists are going to claim that they took down an iconic US 'symbol', and rebuilt a mosque in its place.
The way the US is looking at it right now they're putting themselves into a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't.'
From the start the claim should have always been, private building, if it meets proper requirements, let them build it, and lets not make a big deal out of it. If people WANT to make a build deal, just come out and say that all religions can equally choose to build their churches in the US without being oppressed.
